Kemira focuses on systematically developing its sustainability management processes. Kemira has had systematic EHSQ management in place for over 20 years, and has started to address sustainability from a broader perspective as of 2011.
Guided by the Kemira Code of Conduct and EHSQ policy, Kemira’s sustainability efforts are steered by the Management Board and facilitated by the Sustainability & Public Affairs team, as well as relevant segment and function managers. The ultimate responsibility for implementing sustainability rests with each Kemira business, site, and employee. Business partners are also expected to manage their sustainability according to the standards defined in Kemira’s Code of Conduct for Suppliers, Agents and Distributors established in 2012.
Integrated management systems are an important tool in Kemira's sustainability management. Of Kemira's production sites, the major part is certified by the ISO 19001, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18001 standards. In 2012, the work continued with 8 new sites certified in accordance with ISO 14001 and 9 new sites certified in accordance with OHSAS 18001. Kemira aims at having all of its sites certified in accordance with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
